<edit>Something else interesting. Fred Weis will be guarding the paint for the French world basketball team. He's probably thanking God right now that Vince Carter won't be there is absolutely posterize him again.
The saddening original video:
<edit>Note to Dan: I seriously doubt that Lebron James or Dwayne Wade could pull that off for numerous reasons....
1.) My first point is a question of mentality. During his prime, Vince Carter was without argument probably the most ruthless and fearless dunker in NBA history. James and Wade just don't have the balls to even attempt to jump and dunk over a 7'-2" man. I don't even know what the hell Vince was thinking there... that could've went wrong in so many different ways.
2.) My second point is a question of athleticism. During his prime, Vince Carter was one of the most gifted dunkers in the history of the basketball. I'm not saying Wade or Lebron aren't gifted... but they certaintly aren't as gifted as Carter was. Something interesting. Taken today...
Should be furiously working right now, but this'll be my break for the day... and I'll dedicate it to FFVII: Advent Children. so, at this moment, stop reading if you haven't watched the movie because I will spoil the shit out of it.
that's right gina. that's you. literally the only FFVII fan on this planet who hasn't watched it.
anyways, prior to watching the film, I read a full film summary released live-time after the initial venice full-movie screening... so I knew the whole story prior to actually seeing the movie.. I know, that's not "how you're supposed to enjoy movies" but I didn't care.
Like I said earlier, the movie was visually amazing. the fight scenes have to be some of the best choreographed fight scenes ever... but every other element of the movie was pretty lacking. the story was really.. whatever. Kadaj and co. want the only piece of Jenova left (though her cells still run in people) so that they can create their own reunion. Cloud has to rediscover himself and what he fights for, who he fights for, and what he lives for. Cloud is entrapped within the obligations piled onto him by the past.. and must find the future. and they fight.. they fight.. and they fight. In the end, cloud is "released" (I say released, but it's more of an acceptance) from the chains holding back his mind, jenova completes kadaj and he is turned into sephiroth (lame), and the holy water from the cathedral saves everyone (lame). the humor was horrible (reno and rude and comic reliefs? that was just lame)... the subtle humor was nice. Yuffie's nausea upon landing on ground after the parachute trip was funny. The FF victory ring tone was ingenious. but aside from the inside humor, the rest of the movie was pretty dry.
just three things for now...
I loved how they handled the character design in AC... but I don't like how they really ditched it off without fully going into it. Cloud's 7 piece sword? come on, they could've been so much more creative with that. Cloud's final k.o. attack on sephiroth? that was weak. I heard that it was so much better than omnislash, but no... just no. it was cool, it was creative, but it just didn't have as much bang to it. Barret's new arm gun? that was nice. but again, they could've done so much more with it. but ahwell.
I hated the introduction. hated. voice overs? and incorrect voice overs? they didn't catch the essence of Sephiroth's madness at all. Mad that he was created out of a dreadful experiment? that's complete bull shit. Attempted to destroy the planet because he was angry he was an experiment? that's complete bull shit. damnit. I think the fans understood FFVII better than its creators... way better. I really think so.
My roommate said that everyone should've died in the end.. or atleast someone. but you have to remember that millions of FFVII fans know where square-enix is located... and they would all happily raid, ransack, and burn their HQ if anything bad happened to their favorite characters. so no, this movie was very obviously made purely for fans... though a death would've probably made it more memorable.
random comment, tifa's arms are deformed.
and just a random comment to end the post... Final Fantasy 7 sold 9,680,000 copies world wide (including international, 3,930,000 in japan and 5,750,000 copies of NA/PAL).
<edit> I just realized what was wrong with my transparency and
fuck.. that sucks. apparently, Firefox doesn't support the
transparency script or something... and it only shows up on Internet
Explorer... that sucks.. bigtime. that, and it's a bit screwy..
sometimes only half of the blog shows and other times, some of the
pictures don't show unless you highlight them over... but damn, does it
look nice.... damnit.</edit>
wow, just noticed that they changed the xanga blog entry format... I haven't done this in a very long time, huh??
anyways, just 4 things.
1. I moved into my new apartment.. and my room is pretty much set up, I will add more later.
2. My new computer is here. 3.0ghz Pentium D830, 320gb hd, 2gbs
or memory, 256mb GeForce FX 6800. 19" monitor. considering
upgrading stuff already.
3. The Coldplay concert was amazing. amazing. will add more later. 4. Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children wasn't a good movie but it was
still visually amazing. and good for the memories. I will add
more later.
lots of work, though I can't say that's all i've been doing. I'll post more later.
p.s. I'm thinking about giving the visuals of this site an overhaul.
<edit> the visuals have been redone.. and my portrait pic,
too. if you're reading this by subscription, drop by and take a
look..</edit>
<edit> the pic is something I whipped up pretty quickly for program,
concept and rep class. nothing much, just a photomontage of some
memories... I kind of misunderstood the project, but ohwell.
</edit>
